For over 40 years, Prevention First has provided programs to support children and the families who love them. Today, our mission to strengthen  their foundations so they can handle life’s difficult situations is not limited to alcohol issues, as it was back in 1967. Our focus has expanded as times have changed and now includes issues such as bullying and gang involvement, as well as underage drinking, tobacco and other drugs.

Over the years, many supporters have shared personal experiences as to why Prevention First has become so very important to them. For instance:

   “As a child who was bullied in grammar school, I support Prevention First so my children might avoid the pain of being picked on.”

   “I watched my best friend in high school, a fantastic student and athlete,     destroy his future due to drug and alcohol abuse.”

   “My hometown neighborhood has been devastated by drugs, gangs and     violence. I want to do something positive to make it better.”

2007, the year of our 40th anniversary, was a celebration of the positive differences that our efforts made in the lives of thousands  of children and their families. As always, we were thankful to have had the opportunity to do so and especially grateful for the generosity of our supporters.

As we face the future in these challenging and ever-changing times, there are two things of which we can all be certain – our children and families will continue to need our support -- and we will continue to need yours…
